The Congress on Thursday alleged that BJP MLA from Sagwara assembly seat in Dungarpur, Anita Katara, got herself treated for an ailment by a tantric after at least one photograph surfaced of her seated while a man is purportedly hovering a broom near her head.

Congress’ Dungarpur district president Dinesh Khodniya said: “The public of Rajasthan is availing free medicines but it seems an MLA, and quite literate at that – she is an MA – doesn’t trust the modern medicine and availed the services of a tantric. Perhaps the MLA and the public aren’t able to obtain free medicines anymore and have now regressed to tantrics.” The MLA, however, rubbished the allegations. “Yes, it is indeed me in the picture but the person said to be a ‘tantric’ is my aide. He was cleaning the room and someone mischievously clicked it to make it look like something else,” Katara told The Indian Express.

Khodniya, however, insisted that she was indeed with a tantric.

“She is sitting in a rather odd manner, and why would the person raise the broom to her head so awkwardly. Clearly that person is a bhopa (tantric). She should be courageous and issue a statement denying that the person is a tantric, if it isn’t so, then we’ll see.”
