The father of an accused in the Dadri lynching case, a local BJP leader Sanjay Rana and other residents of Bisara village met newly-appointed Gautam Budh Nagar SSP Dharmendar Singh urging him to ensure an FIR against Mohammad Akhlaq’s family on charges of cow slaughter be registered. This comes a day after they approached Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the same issue.
While an FIR was not lodged till late Sunday night, Rana maintained that a village meeting would be called Monday evening where the course of action will be announced. “We had lodged a complaint at the Jharcha police station on Friday. We met the SSP today who said they will investigate the matter but no case has been registered till now. We will now hold a meeting in the village tomorrow and announce our next course of action,” said Rana.
Police sources said the complainants had been assured a probe would be carried out and an FIR registered after probe. “We are conducting an inquiry and depending on what comes out of it, an FIR will be registered. Some residents met the SSP on the issue and he has assured them that a probe will be conducted,” said a police officer.
