Two years ago, during the mass connect governance initiative Sarkar Aapke Dwar, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje had stopped at Raghunathi Gurjar’s house, tucked away in a lane at a small village in Sawai Madhopur.

Raje had sat down on the floor to break bread with Raghunathi and other women of the house, as they cooked a meal of bajri roti and garlic chutney on a traditional earthen chulha (oven).

This Sunday, Raje returned the favour.

When she was invited for the regional launch of the Pradhan Mantri Ujwala Yojana at Dahod, with her Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat counterparts Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Anandiben Patel respectively, Raje “remembered Raghunathi’s struggle with the smoke spewing out from the earthen chulha”.

Raje instructed the officials to make arrangements for the old woman to travel to Dahod, Gujarat, so that she could be given the LPG connection at the public function.

BJP president Amit Shah and petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan were also present at the event.

During the event, 15 women from BPL families across the three states were handed over LPG connections by Shah as part of the symbolic regional launch.

Raghunathi was supposed to be one of the five women from Rajasthan to receive the connections. However, on the way to Dahod, her son fell ill and Raghunathi had to return.

Raje then instructed the officials to provide the Gurjar household with an LPG connection. She also called up Raghunathi and congratulated her over the new gas connection.2 years after she served food to CM, woman gets LPG connection
