Investigation into the shooting of two personal security officers of two real estate businessmen at councillor Krishan Pehalwan’s farmhouse Friday night has revealed he tried to save the accused, Joginder alias Pollard, said sources.
Pehalwan and two others arrested on charges of criminal conspiracy and destroying evidence were produced before a Delhi court and sent to Tihar jail for 14 days. Joginder, who was booked for murder, was sent to two-day police custody.
Police are looking for another associate of Pehalwan and trying to ascertain the real motive for the murder, said a source aware of the investigation. Police are not convinced that Joginder shot them after a sudden provocation, added the source.
On the sequence of events, police sources said the deceased, Ashok Singh and Ram Chander Singh alias Fauzi, came to the farmhouse in Najafgarh Friday night where other local security officers and employees of Pehalwan were having a party. “What is being talked about now is they were consuming liquor when suddenly they started discussing the supremacy of Jat community in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. The discussion turned into a heated argument and Joginder allegedly snatched a licensed pistol from one of the victims and opened fire,” added the sources.
“Police are looking into Pehalwan’s role after he was informed about the shooting. He is suspected of having asked his employees to wash the crime scene and destroy CCTV footage,” said the sources.
A source said, Pehalwan initially claimed the shooting took place on the main road and not in the farmhouse, but police found blood stains on the wall of a room in the farmhouse.
