Parents protest fee hike,await HC order

Parents of students at Sachdeva Public School,Pitampura held a protest on Monday against the school’s refusal to roll back fee hike.

Parents of students at Sachdeva Public School,Pitampura held a protest on Monday against the school’s refusal to roll back fee hike.

The parents blocked the road outside the school and raised slogans against the administration. After the police threatened lathi charge,several protesters lied down on the road.

The protest had started early in the morning,with parents attempting to lock the school gate and prevent students from going inside. Parents of students at the Mahavir Model School,Nanak Piyau,also joined in the protest.

“The parents will not to submit the arrears and the increased fee till the High Court decides on the issue,” Vijender Gupta,president of the Delhi Abhibhavak Mahasangh which supported the protest,said. “The Delhi government is deliberately not checking the accounts of private schools,just to serve their interests.”

The parents had earlier alleged that the school had locked up several students in a classroom for not paying fee. A similar protest was held at the Sachdeva School last week.

Meanwhile,SL Jain,principal of Mahavir Model School,said the school had only asked for the arrears and fees as specified by the government.

“Any decision by the court will come later,but we have been allowed by the government to take the fees from parents. We have given parents time till April 30,” Jain,who is the chairman of the National Progressive Schools Conference,said.
