Gurgaon Police have arrested a 20-year-old man for the murder of his 36-year-old mother and 15-year-old sister. Two of his accomplices, who are in the same age group, have also been arrested, said police Monday.
During questioning, prime accused Sumit said he killed his mother and sister with his friends to “protect his honour” because he did not approve of their lifestyle, said a police officer. Sumit also claimed that his mother and sister refused to change their ways despite his pleas, the officer added. He also alleged that his mother had killed his father, Jaiprakash, by poisoning him 16 years ago, said the officer. Police said no report alleging such a crime had been found at the police station of the area where the family lived.
Sumit Kumar, DCP (West), said, “During questioning, the three accused revealed that on the night of September 18, they murdered the woman and the teenage girl.”
Police said accused Sumit hatched the plan to kill his mother and sister with the help of his friends. They drove the woman and the teenage girl to Manesar in Dharambir’s car on the evening of September 18 after telling them they were heading to a temple in Rajasthan, said a police officer. The accused shot them dead in the vehicle around 11.30 pm before dumping the bodies in a plot near IMT Chowk in Manesar, the officer added.

The bodies, bearing a gunshot injury each on the chest and strangulation marks, were spotted on September 19 morning. Initially, police had not been able to ascertain their identities and found no clues at the spot except the “skid marks of a car’s tyre”.
Investigations continued and led to a breakthrough Sunday evening, when Sumit was arrested along with his friends, Pradeep and Dharambir, said a police officer. Sumit is from Najafgarh, while Pradeep and Dharambir are from Bakargadh and Samaspur, respectively, the officer added.
All three are “unemployed” and from “middle class backgrounds”, said police. Their car was intercepted at a checkpoint at IMT Chowk and during searches two country-made pistols and live cartridges were recovered from the vehicle, the officer added.
DCP Kumar said, “The accused are being questioned further. The vehicle and weapons used by them for the murder have been retrieved.”
