Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung has asked the Delhi government to work out the modalities of reducing DTC bus fares to discourage people from using personal vehicles to bring down pollution level.
Jung directed the transport department to reduce bus fares for the next two months keeping the winter season in mind as pollution peaks during this time. It was also pointed out that a special strategy to combat air pollution at Anand Vihar, where pollution readings are 20 per cent higher than the rest of the city.
Secretary (Environment) said 200 traffic bottlenecks have been identified and data has been shared with the agencies so that traffic can be eased.
