After heavy rain lashed Gurgaon Monday evening, traffic slowed to a crawl as several areas of the city experienced severe waterlogging. Once again, the worst affected area was Hero Honda Chowk as traffic came to a standstill due to waterlogged roads.
Sources said waterlogging was also seen at Sohna Road, Udyog Vihar, Old Gurgaon Road, and the Sadar Bazaar area. Traffic moved slowly at various exit points on National Highway 8 (NH8) as well.
Gurgaon police took to social media and warned commuters early in the evening that traffic would be slow moving in the city because of heavy rain.
“Heavy rains in Gurgaon today, commuters to face slow moving traffic. All hands of Gurgaon Police at wor”,” said a tweet from from Gurgaon police at 5 pm.
To prevent a recurrence of the waterlogging and massive gridlocks that led to chaos in the city last month, the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon also spurred 27 pumps into action.
