A 15-year-old school student in Gurgaon had to be rushed to hospital after he sustained injuries during a district-level diving competition in the city Thursday. An FIR has been registered in the incident at Badshahpur police station. Two other students reportedly sustained minor injuries during the competition.

According to police, the incident took place when a diving competition was being held at the CRPF Academy in Kadarpur, Gurgaon. “One child was injured. He jumped into the water and hurt his neck. He has been admitted to AIIMS,” said Praveen Malick, SHO of Badshahpur police station. “It is not clear why this happened. It is possible that there was too little water in the pool for a diving competition, but only further investigations will reveal the truth,” he added.
