The body of an 18-year-old MBBS aspirant, with a gunshot injury on her forehead, was recovered from Chak Birampur village in Jewar area of Greater Noida Wednesday, said police. Her family maintained she had committed suicide, but Gautam Budh Nagar police are waiting for the post-mortem report.
According to the police, information about the death did not come from the family. “We came to know about it when some informers called us. When we reached the spot, preparations had been made for her funeral. We recovered the body for post-mortem analysis. The report is expected tomorrow,” said Dileep Singh, deputy superintendent of police, Jewar. “The incident took place around 11 am and it is being claimed that the girl was alone at her residence then. She had been preparing for CPMT (Combined Pre-Medical Test in Uttar Pradesh).”
Police said the victim’s father maintained she committed suicide. “The parents did not want to get a case registered… However, when we went to the house, there were no bloodstains except some on the wall. The gun has not been recovered yet, but we expect to recover it soon,” said Singh.
