The Delhi Police Thursday informed a Delhi court that an FIR has been registered against AAP leader Kumar Vishwas based on an alleged molestation complaint filed by an AAP volunteer against him.
Police lodged the FIR at Sarojini Nagar police station in pursuance to the directions of Metropolitan Magistrate Pankaj Sharma. In the FIR, the complainant has accused Vishwas of making “sexually-coloured” remarks and that he made advances towards her. She also alleged that “he was trying to exploit her physically”.
According to the report, the FIR has been lodged for the alleged offences under sections 354A (sexual harassment) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the IPC.
The court had Wednesday ordered an FIR be lodged on the plea of the AAP volunteer, while giving liberty to police to arrest the leader if required during the probe.
It added the investigation would be done uninfluenced and an arrest made when required. The order came after the complainant claimed she had approached police but no action was taken against Vishwas. In the status report filed before the court earlier, police had said nothing was found to substantiate the allegations against Vishwas.
