A 20-year-old woman was allegedly raped in a car Wednesday night in south Delhi’s Moti Bagh area. While the car, that bears a sticker of the Ministry of Home Affairs, belongs to a CISF head-constable, the accused, believed to be the constable’s driver, has been arrested by the police. Police said the accused raped the woman on the pretext of giving her a lift. The woman is a resident of Noida and had been looking for a job in Delhi.

According to initial reports, the victim was waiting for a bus near AIIMS at around 9 pm on Wednesday. The accused then stopped the car in front of the bus stop and offered to drop her to Noida. After driving her around for almost two-three hours, the driver parked the car near his residence in the Moti Bagh area and allegedly raped her.

The victim managed to escape and informed police officials who were patrolling nearby. Preliminary medical tests confirmed rape and the police then took the victim to the scene of crime. Though the car was parked in the same place and the victim’s phone was still inside the car, the accused driver was absconding. He was later nabbed from his friend’s home. An FIR has been registered under IPC sections 357 and 376.
