Delhi: Robbers bond with victim’s pet dog before fleeing, says police

According to police, the incident took place at 1.30 pm, when the 32-year-old woman was alone at home.

A woman was allegedly robbed of Rs 10 lakh by two men inside her home in north Delhi’s Lahori Gate Thursday.

“We have registered an FIR and are investigating the role of insiders in the matter,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North district) Madhur Verma.

According to police, the incident took place at 1.30 pm, when the 32-year-old woman was alone at home. “The victim told police that the two persons… threatened her with a knife and took cash and jewelry from the almirah,” said a police official.

Some media reports claimed the robbers forced the woman to take off her sari and tied her up with it. They allegedly chopped off her hair when she tried to resist them, said the reports. However, the DCP denied these reports.

“The woman told police that after committing the robbery, the two men spent some time with her pet dog and ate food They then locked her inside the flat and fled the spot,” added the official.
