Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia met L-G Najeeb Jung Wednesday to seek his approval for opening Mohalla clinics in government schools.
Saying he was hopeful that Jung will agree, Sisodia said, “We told him how important these clinics are for 15 lakh students… There was some confusion over the change in the use of land but it was clarified that these will be opened only in government schools and not in private schools. He looked positive. Let’s see what he decides.”
Earlier, the Delhi government had moved a cabinet note stating that mohalla clinics can be opened on any department’s land without seeking approval. Government sources said there was opposition to this as several departments had prior development plan for these plots.
The departments objected to the proposal of opening mohalla clinics on the roadside or on service lanes because they felt “the right of way cannot be encroached upon”, said a source.
