The Delhi Commission of Women (DCW) Friday said it had issued 82 notices to 54 police stations in the capital in last 10 months for “non-compliance with the Rape Crisis Cell (RCC) order, which mandates that any case relating to rape or sexual assault be immediately informed to the closest Crisis Intervention Centre/RCC of the DCW.”
“… The highest number of cases — seven — went unreported from Mehrauli police station, followed by four cases each from Safdarjung Enclave, Punjabi Bagh and Sarita Vihar police stations,” said a DCW official.
The heads of 54 police stations were asked to provide a written explanation to the commission on why the RCC or CIC was not informed. “Among these 82 unreported cases, the victims in 36 cases were minors, and even worse, of these 36 cases, victims in 15 cases were below the age of 13,” added the official.
According to the commission’s data, in 24 of the 82 cases, the CIC counsellors were not informed about the case at all.
