Swaraj India president Yogendra Yadav Wednesday wrote to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal seeking the government’s intervention in the pending allotment of permits to 8,258 auto drivers.

The Indian Express had on Wednesday reported how several auto drivers who had received letters of intent from the AAP government last December had bought autos to ply in the capital — only to have the allotments cancelled three days later. The auto drivers have since been fighting a legal battle and the next hearing is scheduled for December 7.

Yadav appealed to Kejriwal to register the 324 two seater rickshaw (TSR) autos purchased after obtaining letters of intent from the Transport Department and to allow 608 TSR drivers to purchase TSR autos against the issued letters of intent. He also said 7,326 candidates whose names were uploaded and displayed on the site of the Transport Department should be issued letters of intent.
