In his statement to the police,Atul Jhemse, who allegedly stabbed his father to death after being refused a mere Rs150 in Mulund (East),has said that though he committed the crime in a fit of rage,he does not feel any remorse,Navghar police officers said on Sunday.
Jhemse,31,was produced before a holiday court on Sunday, where he was remanded in police custody till September 28.
Police said Jhemse, who is unemployed, stabbed his 61-year-old father Sudhir a retired RBI employee a dozen times for refusing him money to buy alcohol. Atuls mother,Rekha (59),who works in the clerical department of the Director General of Police office at Colaba, was injured when she tried to intervene. Atul later surrendered before the Navghar police. He had several arguments in the past about the fact that he could not hold onto a job and was unemployed. His father wanted him to settle down in his career, said a police officer.
Atul had informed the society secretary himself. We have asked for Atuls custody in order to find out whether he is suffering from a mental disorder, said an officer from the Navghar police station.
Jhemse completed a diploma in financial management after graduation in commerce. He changed more than four jobs in the past. Police said he worked for a bank earlier and said that he quit the job. The bank, however, told the police that he was fired. We will also find out why Atul was fired from his job, said the officer.
