UT Adviser Primal Rai Wednesday asked the Education Department to send him a record of teachers who have been working on deputation for longer than the required period of time.
More then 562 faculty members have exceeded their period of deputation in Chandigarh.
As per the rules, the maximum deputation period of faculty members is five years but teachers have been serving in Chandigarh for longer.

Both Punjab and Haryana have an equal quota of 20 percent in deputation of faculty.
There are a total of 10 principals, 91 lecturers, 278 teachers and 181 Junior-Basic-Trained teachers present in the city on deputation. Out of which 106 teachers, 43 lecturers, 2 principals have been staying in the UT for then a period of ten years.
While, 25 teachers, seven lecturers, one principal and 20 JBT teachers have been on deputation for more than seven years.
