This one is a summer camp with a difference, one where children learn to meditate and the nitty gritty of theatre. On at the Tagore Theatre, the workshop is being conducted by Kuldip Sharma, director of the Department of Indian Theatre. Over 26 students from all over the city are participating in the workshop.
I want to provide the students with a new atmosphere. I want to tell them the meaning of theatre and its relevance in their life. The CBSE board in Delhi has introduced Theater in Education (T.I.E) as a part of the academic syllabus, says Abhishek Sharma, one of the co-coordinators of the workshop. The workshop provides various activities that help build ones confidence. Games such as CID,Mirror game,Tai-chi and football aim at self-development through the medium of entertainment.
On since June 12,the workshop ends today. The art of acting does cannot be learnt overnight. So we wanted to start this at an early stage for the children. This helps them in their personality development. We showed them the meaning of theatre art, says Asha Saklani, another co-ordinator.
The workshop also had a storytelling session, which was enjoyed by the students Every child has something to add to the story. They use their imagination to give a new bent to the story. In the end,it is interesting to see the outcome, says Sharma.
