A day after noted Sufi singer Hans Raj Hans was dropped from the Congress’ list of nominations to the Rajya Sabha, Valmiki and Mazhbi Sikh leaders have blamed the ‘Adharmi’ (Ravidassia Community) leaders of Doaba region and even announced to boycott the Congress if Hans was not accommodated in a “suitable” position in the party.
Under the banner of ‘Balmiki Mazhbi Sikh Welfare Association’, the Valmiki leaders announced the launch ‘Congress Bhajao, Desh Bachao’ (Make Congress run and save country) campaign.
Senior Congress leaders who wanted to tap the Valmiki community’s vote in the assembly elections, are now looking for a way to pacify the community.
PPCC secretary and City Valmiki Sabha president Amrit Khosla addressing the media on Friday said that the entire Balmiki and Mazhbi sikh community would be forced to ‘boycott’ the congress. “Some of the ‘Adharmi’ leaders have been pushing the Valmiki leaders to the back by availing all the chances for themselves,” he said.
He named Jalandhar MP Santokh Chaudhary, ex-Jalandhar MP Mohinder Singh Kaypee, ex- Hoshiarpur MP Santosh Chaudhary, ex-PPCC president Shamsher Singh Dullo, Congress SC cell president Raj Kumar Chabbewal and MLA Ram Lubhaya as behind the decision to drop Hans Raj Hans.
“Captain Amarinder did his best but these leaders managed to get ticket for Dullo”, he said.
Khosla was accompanied by large number of Balmiki -Mazhbi leaders from entire Doaba in the press conference and declared their support to Hans.
