NRI murder case: Police submit chargesheet, to issue notice against victim’s wife in Canada

The chargesheet has been filed against five persons, including the wife of the victim. After submitting the chargesheet, the police will now be able to issue a Red Corner Notice against the victim’s wife, who is presently living in Canada.

The accused were charged under Sections 302 (murder), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 149 (Every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common interest), 303 (murder by life-convict ) and 213 (Taking gift to screen an offender from punishment ) of the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act against Lakhbir Singh, Davinder Singh alias Prince, Bhawanpreet Bhangu, Gurpreet Singh alias Sony and Pawandeep Kaur.

Pawandeep was charged under Sections 302 and 120B of the IPC, while Lakhbir was charged under Sections 302 , 120B , 149 and 303. Lawkhvir was a murder convict and after his conviction, he jumped the bail and committed the crime along with other accused.

Kharar (Sadr) station house officer Manjeet Singh said all the accused have been arrested three months ago except Jaskaran’s wife Pawandeep who is living in Canada.

He added that after the submission of the chargesheet, the police will now be able to issue a Red Corner Notice against Pawandeep.

“To issue a red corner notice, a copy of the chargesheet is required to convince the foreign government to deport the accused person to our country. The road is now clear to issue the notice that will enable the police to arrest one of the masterminds of the crime,” added the SHO.

Jaskaran (38) of Swara village, who was a property dealer, was found murdered at an isolated place on the outskirts of the village on March 16 this year. The reason behind the murder was strained relation between the victim and his wife, Pawandeep.

Pawandeep allegedly developed illicit relations with Bhawanpreet and Gurpreet, whom she later convinced to commit the crime.

Bhawanpreet introduced Lakhvir to Pawandeep over the phone and they started planning the murder.

Pawandeep offered up to Rs 1 crore to all the accused and also sent Rs 2 lakh for both Gurpreet and Bhawanpreet and Rs 75,000 for Lakhvir from Canada.
