Minerva Football Club U16 team  defeats Lone Star Kashmir FC 4-1 

In the previous encounter in the tournament, Minerva FC had registered a 2-0 win over Real Kashmir FC in foggy conditions and poor ground facilities.

Continuing their fine from in the tournament, Minerva Football Club, Chandigarh U-16 team scored an emphatic 4-1 win over Lone Star Kashmir FC in the qualifying round of the U-16 Youth I League Rest of India one 4 qualifying round played at Ambedkar Stadium, New Delhi. Playing on a chilly winter morning, the Chandigarh-based football club came into their second game of the tournament with some changes in the team.

In the previous encounter in the tournament, Minerva FC had registered a 2-0 win over Real Kashmir FC in foggy conditions and poor ground facilities. Minerva FC started the match on an attacking note as their forwards made constant inroads into the opposition half. Minerva’s star striker Nongdamba Noarem gave the team an early lead as he sneaked past his marker to slot home a powerful rebound from Lone Star Kashmir FC goalkeeper to hand Minerva FC early lead into the match.

Minutes later, Md. Sahajahan fired a thunderous shot from 40 yards on top of the box to make the score board read 2-0 in favour of the Chandigarh team. A brilliant run by winger Azruddin left Kashmir FC’s midfielder chasing and supplied a parallel assist for Nongdamba who showed no hesitation in scoring his second goal of the match to put Minerva FC 3-0 ahead. Moments later, Arjun Kumar too put his name on the scoreboard when he netted Minerva FC’s fourth goal of the match to extend the team’s dominance in the match.

Lone Star Kashmir FC managed to score a consolation goal in the dying moments of the first half as the teams went for the break with 4-1 in favour of Minerva FC.

The second half saw some changes from Minerva FC captain Shyamhai Meitei as he decided to rest some regular players in favour of some new faces. As Minerva FC players maintained a clean sheet in the second half, the Chandigarh team romped home with an easy 4-1 win.

Minerva Punjab FC will now face city rivals Youngsters FC in what would be the Chandigarh Derby in the capital to be played at 8 am on December 19 at Ambedkar Stadium, New Delhi.
