Chargesheet against IAS Manisha Shridhar dropped

HP govt has withdrawn the chargesheet served on 1984-batch IAS officer Manisha Shridhar having expertise on the Intellectual Property Rights.

The Himachal Pradesh government has withdrawn the chargesheet served on 1984-batch IAS officer Manisha Shridhar — one of the country’s few bureaucrats having expertise on the Intellectual Property Rights.

Currently posted as the Principal Secretary (Urban Development,Housing and Town and Country Planning),Shridhar had earlier worked with World Health Organisation (WHO). She was chargesheeted for “not returning to the state” after completion of her tenure at WHO.

Shridhar, who had earlier served at different posts, including deputy commissioners of Kangra and Shimla, was slated to return to the state in March 31,2010. But she sought an extension,as several other officers had got during their deputations and even for other assignments.

Following this, the government slapped a chargesheet on Shridhar and initiated a probe against her. Though she returned to the state early this year, the government struck to its stand.

A senior government official on Wednesday said that chargesheet was withdrawn at the intervention of Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, who had earlier examined the issue and decided not to proceed with any inquiry against Shridhar. “It is true,we have withdrawn the chargesheet, taking a lenient view in the case,” said an official in the personnel department.
