The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has directed a travel portal to pay a compensation of Rs 8,000, including cost of litigation, to a resident of Sector 35.

Pronouncing the orders on November 10, the forum also directed Booking.com, Aspirants Travels (I) Pvt. Limited and Athithi Resort to refund Rs 7,500 to the complainant – Parminder Pal Singh.

Singh stated in the complaint that he had booked the Atithi Resort for two days from June 19, 2016 to June 20, 2016, through Booking.com.

He stated that when Aspirant Travels asked him, he deposited Rs 7,500 towards the booking amount. After the booking, when the complainant went to Dalhousie with his wife and two children, he was shocked to learn from the receptionist of the resort that there was no information regarding his booking. Singh further spoke to the owner of the resort, but he refused to entertain him. Singh then stayed at the Lal Ji Hotel, Dalhousie, after paying higher rate.
