Swine flu claims 10 more lives, toll 207

The total number of deaths has crossed 200, while total number of cases reported was 3,107.

Ten more Swine flu deaths in Gujarat were reported on Sunday. The total number of deaths has crossed 200 and stares at 207 while total number of cases reported was 3,107.

Two deaths each were reported from Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Surat while one each from the districts of Sabarkantha, Bharuch, Surendranagar and Panchmahals. In Ahmedabad alone, a total of 51 deaths and 1,032 cases have been reported.


As many as 221 new cases of Swine flu were reported in a single day on Sunday. With Ahmedabad recording the maximum number of 80 cases. Surat reported 29 new cases, Vadodara (22), Gandhinagar (17), Kutch (13), Bhavnagar (10), Mehsana (7), Banaskantha and Surendranagar (5 each), Rajkot, Sabarkantha and Jamnagar (four cases each) while Amreli and Junagadh had three cases each .

The 108 toll-free helpline recorded 125 calls on Sunday from across the state with maximum seeking information on precautions and symptoms. Since the launch of the toll-free helpline on February 19, over 550 calls have been received from panic-stricken public seeking general information on symptoms and precautions.
