Police had also recovered the knives used in committing the crime from an abandoned car near Talaja in Saurashtra.
Joint Police Commissioner Khursheed Ahmed said, “We have arrested three more people involved in the triple murder taking the total number of arrests to seven. Gautam Goyani is the brother Komal Goyani, who had already been already arrested, and their father Ganesh Goyani is still absconding. After committing the triple murder, they were hiding in different places of Saurashtra.”
Surat Police Commissioner Ashish Bhatia said, “Gautam was demanding Rs 50 lakh from one of the deceased Bakul Hirani on behalf of his sister Komal for helping him with a land-related work at a mamlatdar office at Bagasara in Amreli district. Our teams have returned from Bagasra in Amreli district after taking the statements of R B Angari, mamlatdar of Bagasra. Before her death, Bakul’s mother Raniben Hirani had given power of attorney to someone to sell her agricultural land. With the help of Komal and Angari, Bakul had submitted an application to the mamlatdar objecting the sale of plots. Later Bakul made a compromise with the power of attorney holder and got Rs 5 lakh from the deal. On getting to know about the deal between Bakul and the power of attorney holder, Komal informed her brother Gatuam and father Ganesh which led to the extortion call of Rs 50 lakh. We are probing the case further to get more details.”
