In connection with the sexual harassment case involving female students of SVNIT college, the authorities of the Surat-based college have started retrieving information from the personal computers of the college director and registrar who are suspected of having helped two professors who are the main accused in the case.
The data is being retrieved by computer experts of the college. They are examining the personal computers of college director Dr. P D Porey and registrar H A Parmar. Sources at SVNIT said that the communication between Porey, Parmar and the accused professors Dr. Ranjeet Roy and Dr. Vivekanand Mishra would help throw further light in this case.
The authorities will also seek detailed call records of the mobile phone of the registrar to find out his role in the entire episode. Suspecting the role of the director and the registrar, the students and faculty of SVNIT have been demanding their resignation. While the registrar has refused to resign claiming that he has not helped any of the accused, the resignation of director Porey was sent to Ministry of human resources by SVNIT chairperson Jaya Palvalkar, for approval.
The issue of Parmar’s resignation came up for discussion during the meeting of Board of Governors held in Delhi on Monday. In-charge Director S N Channiwala, along with two professors of SVNIT, remained present in the meeting to discuss steps to be taken against the registrar. The officials, however, remained tight-lipped about the meeting.
