Days after he announced entering public life, retired IPS officer D G Vanzara attended an RSS event in Ahmedabad on Sunday to celebrate the Hindu new year of Varsha Pratipada. The event was also attended by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and several senior state BJP leaders and ministers.
Vanzara, who returned to Gujarat Friday after court modified his bail conditions in the Ishrat Jahan and the Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter cases, attended the event with senior BJP leader I K Jadeja, Education Minister Bhupendra-sinh Chudasama, Asarwa MLA R M Patel, MP Jayshreeben Patel, Ahmedabad Mayor Gautam Shah and others.
Addressing the gathering, Bhagwat said: “The impact of the Sangh has grown over time, and more than its impact, faith of the people in it has become stronger.”
Referring to those who are opposed to the RSS ideology, he said: “People feel sick when they hear Hindu vicharak. Those with narrow mindset have disrespected Hindus… We do not ask people from which chhota tabka people before they join RSS. For us, their belief in ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ is enough… A good, strong and real (achha, pakka aur sachha) Hindu is not through ritual, but in behaviour.”
He called for RSS members to take a resolve towards making India a world leader so that the entire world can chant ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. “We have to work towards making our country a world leader and we have to become such that the entire world chants ‘Vishwa Guru Bharat Mata Ki Jai.’ And this is our personal resolution, our collective resolution, our only resolution…,” the RSS chief said.
