Gujarat toilet scheme irregularities: 5 talatis suspended

Anand district development authorities on Thursday suspended nine staffers, including five talatis, over irregularities in toilets construction scheme under ‘Nirmal Gujarat Yojana’ in Borsad Taluka of the district.

In October, a state vigilance team had conducted a field inspection in the villages of Borsad taluka. During the inspection team found irregularities by the officials. The team observed many beneficiaries without toilets, but the payment for it was done on paper. District Development office on Thursday issued suspension order to Harshad Vaghela, Minesh Patel, Magan Solanki, Magan Rabari of Alarsa village and Krunal Raulji for their alleged involvement in the irregularities. “In Valvod village on paper payment was made for 211 toilets under Nirmal Gujarat Yojana’ but there wasn’t any toilet on the spot, while in Alarsa Village payment for 40 toilets was only on paper,”
said B B Vahoniya, Director District Rural Development Agency The district authoritiesalso terminated the contract of Borsad taluka block coordinator Kerol Christian and cluster coordinators Dadubhai Jadav, Pravin Padhiyar and Haresh Solanki for their alleged involvement in the irregularities.
