A LOCAL COURT on Tuesday extended the police custody of oil miller Samir Shah who has been arrested for alleged murder of his employee Dinesh Daxini even as police nabbed one more accused who had been absconding.

Shah, promoter of Shree Rajmoti Industries was arrested from a Jaipur hotel on Friday night.

He was produced in court on Sunday and police had secured his custody till Monday. As his remanded ended, he was again produced in the court of magistrate BH Ghasura and police sought his further remand.

However, Shah’s lawyer opposed the remand application saying his client had already been available for custodial interrogation for two days and that further remand were not warranted.

However, police said investigation was still over and that a few accused were yet to be arrested and therefore, Shah’s custody was necessary.

After hearing both the sides, the magistrate extended 57-year-old Shah’s custody till Thursday.

Meanwhile, city police arrested Kripalsinh Chudasama, a security guard at Rajmoti Industries, who was on the run since Daxini was allegedly beaten to death on March 1 this year.

“Based on a tip-off, we arrested him from Morbi road of the city,” assistant commissioner Banno Joshi, who is investigating the case said.

Chudasama’s arrest comes hours after Shah led police to his native village Unchadi in Dhandhuka taluka of Ahmedabad district on Monday night.
