Gujarat bankers’ strike today against labour laws

Around 35,000 bank officers and clerks from Gujarat are set to join 7 lakh bank officers and employees across the country in a nationwide strike on September 2 to protest against the “anti-worker labour reforms” in the sector.

Clearing of total Rs 1,500 crore will be paralysed in Gujarat, said Maha Gujarat Bank Employees Association (MBEA). In a press release, MBEA said all trade unions will assemble at Apna Bazar Circle in Ahmedabad in the morning and later submit a memorandum of their demands to the Labour Commissioner.
