‘Gloves are out’: AAP leader alleges victimisation, ‘vendetta politics’ by Cong- BJP leaders

Having faced several run-ins with Congress-BJP leaders in Chhota Udepur from where he was an MP candidate in Gujarat’s Lok Sabha polls in 2014, AAP leader and social activist Arjun Rathwa claims he is being systematically victimised after joining AAP. AAP Gujarat unit officials meanwhile said that the party is set to launch a campaign on BJP-Congress leaders facing serious criminal cases after many AAP members were being harassed by vendetta politics.

Speaking to the press on Saturday in Ahmedabad, Rathwa shared a sting CD containing evidence where a 30 year old Mukesh Rathwa claims to have allegedly put up a false case against Arjun Rathwa and named ex-rail minister of state Naranbhai Rathwa, sitting MLA Mohansinh Rathwa, Sangram Rathwa- General secretary Gujarat Pradesh Youth Congress Committee and PI-RB Devada(LCB) in conspiring for the same.

Arjun Rathwa who is the Central Zone In charge of AAP Gujarat Unit, was previously a lecturer at the Shri Mohansinh Chhotubhai Rathwa College and said that he has currently being rendered unemployed.

“Since I fought the LS polls in 2014 on AAP ticket and having highlighted various illegal activities in the district done by BJP- Congress leaders- I have been strategically victimised by BJP-Congress leaders of Chhota Udaipur. Four FIR’s have been wrongly filed against me and I have approached the Gujarat HC for the quashing of the same. Post my arrests this April, I was suspended from the college where I was teaching with no enquiry or report whatsoever. One of the FIR’s against me is regarding breaking of tribal leader and icon Birsa Munda statue on 14th April, 2016 which took place when I was already in police custody. Currently I have received an order of banishment from 8 districts by the Sub divisional magistrate (SDM) of Chhota Udepur based on the FIR’s and have rendered my response to the same,” said Arjun Rathwa at the press meet.

Earlier this April, Arjun Rathwa and 11 others were booked for desecration of the Birsa Munda statue this April at Chhota Udepur. In 2014, the AAP leader had alleged threats by his rival Congress candidate Naranbhai Rathwa for highlighting substandard facilities and presence of liquor in 2 government funded schools run by a trust headed by the Congress leader.

Highlighting the AAP leader’s plight, Harshil Nayak- AAP Media Coordinator said that AAP members in the state were facing constant harassment and being made part of political conspiracy in which BJP-Congress leaders were hand in glove as was the district administration. Nayak further said that senior AAP leaders are set to meet the Home Secretary and launch a drive to seek an update on serious criminal cases against BJP and Congress leaders.
