
Seven pilgrims on their way to Ashapura temple in Kutch and a volunteer were killed when a speeding oil tanker hit their vehicles on National Highway 27 near Maliya town in Morbi district on Monday. The accident happened around 5.45 am when the tanker crashed into two stationary auto-rickshaws, which were ferrying pilgrims. Due to the impact of collision, one of the auto-rickshaws hit a parked camper van of volunteers, who were serving water to the pilgrims. While five died on the spot, three succumbed to injuries in a hospital.
