The Gujarat BJP,which had so far been silent on former chief minister Keshubhai Patels outbursts against his successor Narendra Modi, has decided to convey a stern message to him through an editorial note published in the latest edition of its mouthpiece Manogat. In its July 25th issue of the fortnightly, its editor and state BJPs treasurer Surendra Patel has written an open letter to Keshubhai warning him against crossing the limit in his tirade against Modi.
You are a veteran and revered. In Mahabharata,Arjuna had to fight against his own elders like Dronacharya and Bhishma Pitamaha. I request you from the bottom of my heart not to create such a situation, Patel writes, adding he was inspired to write this open letter after reading Keshubhais utterances in the newspapers that even a cultured citizen would not make.Selfish,anti-development and anti-BJP elements are using your shoulders to open fire at the BJP and as a party worker,I request you not to indulge in this kind of acts which might make you feel guilty in future. So,please stay away from these elements, Patel writes.
Acknowledging Keshubhais contribution,Patel writes,Your lions share in nurturing the state BJPs giant tree is indisputable. Your image helped a lot in making BJP acceptable among people as an alternative to the Congress. It looks like that your dislike for a particular person (read Modi) is turning into an anti-party war. Party above the person has been our premise.
Keshubhai has been openly attacking Modi in his public meetings, but this piece comes after he trained his guns on the BJPs top leadership.
