OBC leader Alpesh Thakor on Friday announced that he will lead an “Unemployment Yatra” from Becharaji to Ahmedabad on January 6, demanding the Gujarat government issue a White Paper on Memoranda of Understandings (MoUs) signed during all the Vibrant Gujarat summits and how many of those companies have given employment to local Gujaratis.
Thakor said that the state government was claiming MoUs worth lakhs of crores of rupees, but it is not making clear as to how many of them resulted in actual investment and how many Gujarati people were employed through those investments.

“The government brings industries to our state using our land and resources, but it is not clear how many local Gujaratis are being employed by those industries. Today, Gujarati youths are struggling for jobs and lakhs of educated youths are unemployed. So, we will carry out an Unemployment Yatra from Becharaji to Ahmedabad in which thousands of youths from all the communities will take part,” said Thakor.
“The state government must ensure that 85 per cent of jobs are given to Gujarati youths by companies investing in the state,” he added.
Thakor has also threatened to oppose Vibrant Gujarat summit through peaceful means like waving black flags to foreign delegates visiting the summit, if the state government does not issue the White Paper and put an end to fix wage policy by January 11.
