
Share/Stock Live Updates: The benchmark equity indices on the BSE and National Stock Exchange (NSE) gave up their morning gains and turned negative in the afternoon trade on Friday weighed by metal, information technology (IT) and pharmaceutical stocks.
At 1:58 pm, the S&P BSE Sensex was trading at 60,712.22, down 211.28 points (0.35 per cent) while the Nifty 50 was down 92.85 points (0.51 per cent) at 18,085.25.
Infosys was the top contributor to Sensex’s fall in the afternoon deals, along with ITC, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Asian Paints and Tata Steel. On the other hand, HDFC twins comprising of Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) and HDFC Bank along with Kotak Mahindra Bank and Axis Bank were among the gainers.
Among the sectoral indices on NSE, the Nifty Metal index was down over 3.5 per cent weighed by Hindustan Zinc and Vedanta. The Nifty IT index too was trading over 1.5 per cent lower dragged by MphasiS and Infy. Likewise the Nifty Pharma too slipped over 1.5 per cent due to a fall in Laurus Labs and Biocon.
