Wheat rises on increased offtake by flour mills

Wheat prices rose by Rs 20 per quintal in the wholesale grains market.

Wheat prices rose by Rs 20 per quintal in the wholesale grains market today due to increased offtake by flour mills.

However,maize and barley declined on subdued demand against adequate stocks position.

Traders said increased offtake by flour mills mainly led to the rise in wheat prices.

Subdued demand against adequate stocks position kept maize and barely weak,they said.

In the national capital,wheat dara (for mills) rose by Rs 20 to Rs 1,550-1,560 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher by Rs 25 to Rs 1,565- 1,570 per 90 kg.

On the other hand,maize and barley fell further by Rs 40 and Rs 10 to Rs 1,320- ,340 and Rs 1,320-1,330 per quintal,respectively.
