Lead futures marginally up on global cues,spot demand

Lead prices edged higher by 0.43 per cent to Rs 108.75 per kg in futures trad.

Lead prices edged higher by 0.43 per cent to Rs 108.75 per kg in futures trade today in line with a firming trend in global markets amid pick up in spot demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange,lead for delivery in September moved up by 50 paise,or 0.43 per cent,to Rs 117.05 per kg,with a business turnover of 5,042 lots. The metal for delivery in October also rose by similar margin to trade at Rs 117.55 per kg with a turnover of 431 lots.

Marketmen said besides increased demand at domestic spot markets from battery- makers,positions built-up by speculators in line with a firming global trend mainly helped lead prices to trade higher at futures trade.
