“This is her first trip outside European Union to India. It is important to us because after Brexit which should come about in two years time, our trade with UK, our investments in UK should not only remain same but should become better,” said Bajaj.

Bajaj also said the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) spending by corporates mandated by the government from April 2014 has also played a role in development but that does not absolve the government from its responsibilities towards provisioning of basic services whether for education, health or infrastructure. The Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation felicitated on Monday four awardees — Mohan Hirabai Hiralal, convenor of Vrikshamitra, BonBehari Vishnu Nimbkar founder of Nimbkar Agricultural Research Institute, N Manga Devi founder of Sri Venkateshwara Bala Kuteer & Chetana Charitable Trust and Sheikh Rached Ghannouchi president of Ennahdha (Renaissance) Party for their humanitarian and Gandhian constructive activities.

Retired Justice CS Dharmadhikari, chairman, Council of Advisors of the Foundation handed over the awards to the winners.
