After putting a hold to the launch of top-spec ZXi+ and ZDi+ variants of the Ciaz for some time, Maruti Suzuki has finally launched both variants officially in the Indian market. The ZXi+ and ZDi+ variants will be replacing the current ZXi(O) and ZDi(O) variants respectively, and will incorporate additional features and equipment over the outgoing Z(O) variants. While the petrol Ciaz ZXi+ will cost you Rs. 9.08 lakh, the diesel Ciaz ZDi+ will set you back by Rs. 10.37 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
In this way, the Ciaz will now be available in four variants in both petrol and diesel versions – VXi, VXi+, ZXi and ZXi+ for petrol and VDi, VDi+, ZDi and ZDi+ for diesel. In addition to the equipment of the outgoing Z(O) variants, both the new Z+ variants will now incorporate the ‘Smartplay’ touchscreen infotainment system. The system features a 7-inch touch-sensitive TFT screen which gets in-built GPS with upgradable maps, and can be utilized for a display for reverse camera. The system is compatible to Bluetooth telephony, USB, Aux-in, SD Card, iPod and Radio. It can also be operated through the steering mounted controls as well.
Under the hood, the new variants continue to carry the same engine options as the other corresponding variants currently on sale. While the ZXi+ sources its power from a 1.4 liter K14 petrol mill, the ZDi+ is propelled to motion by a 1.3 liter DDiS oil burner. Though unlike the lower spec VXi+ and ZXi, both the ZXi+ and ZDi+ will not be available with the optional automatic variants.
Both the Z+ variants were expected to go on sale with other variants when the Ciaz was officially launched in India on 6th October. However, the company confirmed that it is working on the ‘Smartplay’ system to make it more customer intuitive and will introduce the system in the near future.
