Maruti Suzuki launches Baleno at Rs. 4.99 lakh

India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has just launched the Baleno premium hatchback in the country at a mouth-watering starting price of Rs. 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Playing the role of elder brother to the Swift, the Baleno actually weighs 100 kg lighter than the first, thanks to an all-new lightweight platform that it is based on.

The Baleno has now become the second product to be retailed through the Nexa range of premium dealerships.

Dimensions wise, it is the largest car in its class. Not resembling any other car from the Maruti Suzuki stable, the Baleno is based on a ‘Liquid Flow’ design theme that makes it look bulky and sporty. The hatchback rides on 16-inch alloy wheels that are wrapped by Apollo tyres.

The interior features a V-shaped dashboard design that has been given a neat look. Maruti Suzuki has loaded the cabin with many features like a SmartPlay infotainment system with navigation and voice command.

Connectivity options inlcude Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, USB and AUX. Other features include keyless start-go, push button start stop, reversing camera with sensors, automatic climate control, electrically adjustable and folding side-view mirrors, anti-pinch driver’s side window and much more.

On the powertrain front, the Baleno is powered by a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 85PS at 6000 rpm and 115 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. It comes paired to a 5-speed manual and CVT (automatic) gearbox. Diesel motor is the 1.3-litre, four-cylinder mill that produces 75PS at 4000 rpm, 190 Nm of torque at 2000 rpm and comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The premium hatchback is also a safe car to be in, thanks to standard dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD and seat belts with force limiters and pre-tensioners.
