On February 11, Delhi Police purportedly got the CD containing the raw footage of the event from Zee News. Police had registered the FIR into the JNU incident and arrested Kanhaiya Kumar based on footage aired on the news channel.

Lal said VC's moral authority will take a hit if he was not able to protect the faculty members, students and staff. Lal also termed the VC's move to allow police to enter the campus as a "disaster".

New Delhi, Feb 26 (ANI): Confirming his attendance at the ‘Mahishasura festival’ of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in 2011, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Udit Raj on Friday said that he changed his thoughts after joining the saffron party. Raj further stated that Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Smriti Irani’s remarks on the Mahishasura event were political and he attended the event as an activist then. Irani had yesterday created a huge uproar in the Rajya Sabha by reading out a document on the Mahishasur Puja, observed on the JNU campus every October since 2011.

New Delhi, Feb 25 (ANI): Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Prem Nath informed that a local court has sent Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya, Jawaharlal Nehru University students booked on sedition charges, to three-day police remand. The DCP said the Delhi Police will interrogate the students amid tight security. Khalid and Bhattacharya are among the five students, who along with JNUSU President Kanhaiya Kumar, had allegedly raised ‘anti-national’ slogans at an event organised on the university campus on February 9.
