On February 11, Delhi Police purportedly got the CD containing the raw footage of the event from Zee News. Police had registered the FIR into the JNU incident and arrested Kanhaiya Kumar based on footage aired on the news channel.

The raw footage of the JNU event which led to the arrest of Kanhaiya Kumar, obtained from a Hindi news channel, was sent to the CBI forensic lab for examination along with camera, memory card, and other equipment.

Patna, Feb 19 (ANI): All India Students' Association (AISA) members on Friday blocked the Indore–Rajendra Nagar Express in Patna demanding release of Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union president Kanhaiya Kumar. The protestors carried placards opposing the sedition charges against Kumar and raised slogans demanding depoliticisation of the JNU issue. Kumar was arrested last Friday over an event organised on the JNU campus on February 9 against the hanging of 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.

New Delhi, Feb 18 (ANI): Pradeep Narwal, who resigned from the post of joint secretary of the JNU's ABVP unit, said he resigned because of the 'anti-national' incidents taking place on the campus. New Delhi, Feb 17 (ANI): Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Students’ Union president Kanhaiya Kumar was produced in the Patiala House Court on Wednesday in connection with the anti-national slogans raised during an event in the university. Kanhaiya, along with other students of the university, had put posters to protest against the ‘judicial killing’ of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. Security has been beefed up outside the court to avoid any kind of scuffle.

New Delhi, Feb 16 (ANI): A Patiala House court on Tuesday remanded SAR Geelani, former Delhi University lecturer, to two-day police custody after he was booked for sedition for allegedly organising an event to mark the death anniversary of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru at the Press Club of India on February 10. Geelani was detained on Monday night and questioned for several hours before being put under arrest.

New Delhi, Feb 16 (ANI): Former Attorney General Soli Sorabjee on Monday reacted over the JNU issue by saying that any criticism against the government does not entail sedition. He further said that the slogans raised in JNU cannot come under the radar of sedition. He added that if there is any incitement of violence, then sedition can be charged and its upto the court to decide the facts. He also went on saying that if someone says that conviction of Afzal Guru was wrong, that's not sedition because sedition is one of the most serious offences.

New Delhi, Feb 15 (ANI): All-India Anti-Terrorist Front (AIATF) Chairman M S Bitta on Monday asked that when Afzal Guru was proved guilty and sentenced to death by the Supreme Court, then why this matter was raised again by the political parties. He further said that they will meet Home Minister Rajnath Singh and JNU VC today regarding the conflict that is going on. Bitta added that if the government will not take action, then families of martyrs will sit outside JNU and will urge the government for justice.

The CPI (M) politburo member further asserted that if the Home Minister managed to bring up any evidence of 'anti-national' or terrorist activity in the varsity, then the CPI (M) will support necessary action in national interest.
